I loved this movie and rank it up at the top of all Bond films and glad you reviewed it objectively. The horse race/chase and the opera scene were the best Bond scenes ever created. Bourne has helped Bond get back to reality.Au Pachahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00517773668006649669noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8130912260408301801.post-211816357386084442015-10-09T12:55:29.552-04:002015-10-09T12:55:29.552-04:00QoS is great! A lot of people do not understand that this 'dry' Bond is the perfect follow-up to Royale precisely because of Bond's need for hatred and closure. The dunes setting was even an evident metaphor for the emptiness that he feels after that emotional first film. This will go down in history as one of the most underrated Bond films but I love it nonetheless. It took me a few viewings to figure out exactly where the bullet fired at M goes.

I grew accustomed to the editing over multiple viewings, the only part I've had to slow down because I really can't tell what's happening is the end of the boat chase, where there doesn't appear to be an explanation for why the anchor flips the boat.

- CodyLife Between Frameshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18186028067136953502noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8130912260408301801.post-36557807234150950482012-12-17T23:44:14.675-05:002012-12-17T23:44:14.675-05:00It has some moments - but Dan Bradley (a real jack...It has some moments - but Dan Bradley (a real jackwagon I did not enjoy working with) and his grotesque "shaky-cam" do indeed pitch this afterthought of a followup to Casino Royale near the bottom of the quality list. Making your film "move like a bullet" is the thing to do when you have unpolished B movie actors in your cast. But when you have a cast like this - you probably should slow it down and let them speak some words now and again. Casino Royale and Skyfall both bear this out. Time has been kind to Peter Hunt's editing style on OHMSS - I'm afraid it never will make several moments in this movie any more understandable. I've seen this movie three or four times - and your description of what happens in White's interrogation is the only time I've ever followed what goes on from the moment Mitchell fires the first shot until Judi Dench rushes from the room. Only a few seconds - but I still wish I could have seen and followed that. (Admit it - you slowed it down on disc to work that out, didn't you?)

It is not the worst movie ever made - it's not the worst Bond movie ever made - but it's a HUGE drop from CR.

Bond movies set the standard - they do the action first, and best, and biggest. To spend 106 minutes aping the Bourne movies was a misstep. Thank goodness they've realized their error and we won't see this happen again any time soon.

Great write up of an underwhelming series entry though!Craig Edwardshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06037542638067599437noreply@blogger.com
