A shitty owner who has tried to keep a bad team in Oakland for years, but now is using "low attendance" and "a bad city" as an excuse to move the team. With the help of a shitty commisioner, he may get away with scamming the city of Las Vegas out of millions of dollars. Also note how he also runs the San Jose Earthquakes the same way. #FuckJohnFisherAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8130912260408301801.post-18123820241756113472024-02-09T09:15:47.797-05:002024-02-09T09:15:47.797-05:00The Westport hair salon was in the basement of a h...The Westport hair salon was in the basement of a house in The ‘80s. Not only does Geoffrey Lewis make for an enjoyable villain, but the handling of Peter's sense of justice really made it for me. The whole scene of him and Rita in the dark room really hammers home what a lonely person Peter is due to his sense of responsibility he feels. Like the eighth juror in 12 Angry Men, he has reasonable doubt about the guilt of Bonita Grey, and basically goes out of his way to investigate the matter instead of letting her take the fall. And I feel that's something this show did quite well, imbuing Peter's character with that underdog quality that really makes you hope he comes out of it alright despite of the odds.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8130912260408301801.post-55275315818123642202023-07-19T16:12:57.583-04:002023-07-19T16:12:57.583-04:00I didn't watch this show when I was a kid, I f...I didn't watch this show when I was a kid, I first watched it around 2016-2018, during my early twenties and I was pleasantly surprised with it.

Of course, I prefer the first season a bit more over the second one. The removal of Captain Barbera and the toning down of Jameson kinda hurt the second season a bit for me, but I still enjoyed it nevertheless. I feel like Michael Pataki was just an overall joy as the irascible Captain Barbera, and Robert F. Simon was pretty much perfect as Jameson in the first season. His tirades and constant disappointment towards Peter made for some really enjoyable moments (and of course they throw a few dismissive comments towards Spider-Man for him to give a few times, which they completely did away with in the second season).

Also, I know there are no comic book villains here, but just like in the 50's Superman and the 70's Hulk shows, although they used standard down-to-earth villains, they picked wonderful, extremely dependable actors to play them (you give a villain role to the likes of Theodore Bikel, Geoffrey Lewis, Robert Alda, Lloyd Bochner, Dick Erdman, Nicolas Coster, Andrew Robinson, William Smithers and Nicolas Coster and you'll never be disappointed, because they'll always deliver the goods).

So yeah, I didn't expect much from this show before I watched it, because all I heard was that the only good part was Nicholas Hammond's Peter, and even though he is pretty much perfect in the role of Peter (I honestly like him way more than the other live-action versions of the character), there's a lot more in this show that really made me enjoy it.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8130912260408301801.post-43879780792493269492023-07-17T22:07:25.393-04:002023-07-17T22:07:25.393-04:00Thank you. It gives you an insight into the mind of 007, how he is always alert and on guard no matter the situation, and also how resourceful and quick thinking he is.
As for the purpose of Goldfinger killing the mobsters after debriefing them, he could have been testing the lethality of the gas.
Pussy Galore is technically as much the hero(ine) as James in this one. His written message was lost so he couldn't have stopped Goldfinger without turning her.
I think it is very unlikely that there wouldn't have been at least 1 person left at Fort Knox, maybe some guy sitting on the crapper, to alert the authorities but that's a minor quibble.
I have a high opinion of this film just like I had when I first seen it about 25 years ago.
It's not my absolute favourite Bond but that's not even entirely it's fault - I just prefer the newer Bonds because they are more contemporary for me. For it's time Goldfinger was great.
